We all know the struggle. Face mask after face mask, rigorous skin care techniques, and exotic extracts of things we can't even pronounce - and still, we end up with our bright Rudolph the Reindeer colored nose and sometimes painful acne cysts. My friend, the cure to acne is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. However, by learning the causes and relationship between Acne and your bodily functions, maybe it can bring you, my dear reader, a step closer to clear skin!
First of all, Acne is messy situation where your sebaceous oil glands start to pump out tons of oil from your hair follicles (Contrary to popular belief, your sebaceous oil gland is in your hair follicle, not your pores!). So, who is to blame for your overactive oil glands? Thank your Endocrine system - this system in your body is a system in which your hormones are regulated, helping you maintain your metabolism (maintains your body weight and cellular functions), growth, parathyroid and adrenal glands, etc. And this brings us to the conclusion that you can't work against your endocrine system, but with it.
"The cure? What is the cure, gosh darn it?!"
Hush, hush, dear reader, I'm just getting to that.
It's highly noted that a clean, healthy diet and regular exercise will help you in everything you do for your body. Stress can also play a detrimental part to the health of your body and skin - so take a 10 minute break after a hardcore hour of that book report you've been endlessly writing. And finally, this may be clearly obvious, but cater your skincare to your skin type and properly cleanse, tone, and moisturize. A tip for my oily skin friends: After applying any skincare products, apply a layer of baby powder on your face - I promise it won't make you look like Casper the lonely ghost. Use it in moderation and don't apply it to your face when it's wet or damp!
